As a student at University College Hospital his multicoloured waistcoat and bow tie caught staff nurse Rosemary’s attention. They became engaged 10 days after meeting and married in 1963, with Bob graduating in 1965.Commissioned into the Royal Army Medical Corps, he was deployed to Germany for five years where he dealt with many serious military incidents.With sons Andrew, Adam, and twins Charles and Mark, he returned to England and to Preston where he finished his military career, and became, for 20 years, a very well respected GP.He was an active BMA secretary, GP trainer, and prolific local medical journalist and broadcaster, writing weekly on both medico-political matters and local health topics.In 1992 he became medical director in Enfield,…
