The completion of this work package under the CAVS programme presents potential advantages for other countries currently or prospectively involved in the initiative, as they could leverage the outcomes of this development.
The CAVS NEMO variant is a hybrid design that merges Patria’s 6×6 vehicle platform with its NEMO 120mm turreted mortar system. Both components are recognised as leading products in their respective categories within the defence market.
The majority of the vehicle supply is handled through the local industry capabilities of the member nations, with each new country strengthening the security of supply for the entire collaboration.
The Patria 6×6 vehicle, primarily designed for troop transportation, can also be adapted for various combat support roles, including as a Company Command vehicle, Medical Evacuation vehicle, and Heavy APC.
Patria Global executive vice-president Jukka Holkeri said: “Patria is very pleased to see Germany signing the first national CAVS variants development and qualification agreement. The 120mm turreted mortar variant adds totally new performance to the international CAVS programme, and we trust that other participants of the programme will be very interested in this advanced capability.
“The development and qualification of these new CAVS variants will be done in close cooperation with the German industry, and the future serial production will be realised with our earlier published industrial partners KNDS, FFG and JWT.”
To date, Patria has secured orders for over 800 of its 6×6 vehicles and has already delivered more than 200 units.
