ASEAN is set to hold its first-ever joint military exercise in the South China Sea. It comes amid rising geopolitical tensions and uncertainty in the region. The exercise will be hosted by Indonesia in the North Natuna Sea, the southernmost waters of the South China Sea. The drills are expected to take place in September.
