THE Army’s 53rd Infantry “Matapat” Battalion (53IB) has welcomed three newly assigned officers, two enlisted personnel and recognized the exceptional service of a retiring soldier in a ceremony on Monday, January 20, at Camp Major David Sabido in Guipos, Zamboanga del Sur.
Lieutenant Colonel Rolando Vargas Jr., 53IB commander, led the pinning of the unit patch to Second Lieutenants Lanz Anthony Espino, Benzerr James Novesteras, and John Rey Padilla, and Staff Sergeants Juvy Librando, and Allan Eribuagas.
Vargas presented a Plaque of Recognition to Sergeant Noel Enriquez for his exemplary service to the Philippine Army for over his 21 years of service.

“His steadfast commitment upholds the highest standards of military service, reflecting great credit upon himself and the organization,” Vargas said, as he thanked Enriquez for his unwavering commitment and loyalty.
He also expressed his gratitude to the newly assigned officers and enlisted personnel of the battalion.
