When in Singapore, it’s easy to think that the country is all about tall skyscrapers, modern buildings, and massive malls. But with the right itinerary, you can enjoy the best of nature in Singapore, too!
If you’re visiting Singapore for the first time, we’d recommend a visit to Cloud Forest inside Gardens by The Bay—perfect for taking a breather from the tall buildings and urban cityscape.
Here’s why Cloud Forest at Gardens by The Bay deserves a spot in your Singapore itinerary:
1. It’s an air-conditioned garden!
For me personally, the air-conditioning inside Cloud Forest is a massive deal especially when you’ve spent most of the day walking outside in Singapore’s hot and humid weather.
The cold temperature inside Cloud Forest (which is essentially a massive greenhouse) is a blessing for many tourists going around Singapore.
Plus, there are lots of free seating inside, so if you really need a break from walking and you just want to enjoy the cold, you’re free to take a breather!
2. The indoor waterfall is stunning.
If you’re from a tropical country like the Philippines (especially the provinces), then you might think a waterfall won’t be too impressive.
But there’s something about Cloud Forest’s famous waterfalls that always leaves people in awe at first sight. Maybe it’s because it offers a stark contrast from the tall buildings outside; or maybe because it’s so meticulously and beautifully curated that the sun hits the water so perfectly that it looks like a sparkling waterfall.
No matter what it is, the stunning indoor waterfall of Cloud Forest is worth checking out; and worth lots and lots of photos.
3. There’s a wide variety of plants and flowers from all over the world.
That’s what makes this garden/greenhouse extra special. You can get up close and personal with plants and flowers from all over the globe!
If you take your time and really look at the descriptions presented near the plants, you’ll find some you’ve only ever seen in books. There are also lots of plants that usually only live in the mountains, around 2,000 meters above sea level (hence the name “Cloud Forest”).
There are even carnivorous plants such as pitcher plants and the Venus Flytrap! You can see them up close but don’t touch them.
4. You can see the forest from all angles.
With different areas to explore such as the Cloud Walk, Tree Top Walk, and The Cavern, you’ll be able to admire the indoor forest from the top looking down, or from the bottom looking up.
You can even wind up “inside” the falls and see it from another angle.
There’s also a Secret Garden exhibit that allows you to check out some mini orchids that are smaller than a fingernail!
It’s such a delight walking around the forest and always discovering and seeing something new.

5. There are always new exhibits to look forward to.
While most of the plants and flowers are mainstays inside the forest, every now and then there are special interactive installations and exhibits.
So, even if you’ve been to the Cloud Forest before, chances are you’ll see something new the next time you visit!
