Her journey has not been easy. She recalls a difficult time when she was diagnosed with a kidney problem, forcing her to stop selling balloons for more than two months. During her illness, her son took over the business to help pay for her medicines. With unwavering faith, Lola prayed fervently to the Santo Niño for healing. Her prayers were answered, and her kidney problems disappeared. Filled with gratitude, she returned to selling balloons—not only to put food on the table but also to buy her medicines and support her family.
On a typical day, Lola earns around ₱500, depending on the number of visitors. Her story is a beautiful testament to her unwavering faith in the Santo Niño and her deep love for her family.
If you ever visit the Basilica and see Lola Benjamina, take a moment to buy one of her balloons. It’s more than just a simple purchase; it’s a meaningful way to help her provide food for her family and meet her daily needs. (Junior Journo Zhan Francisco Ramirez)
