TWO overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) died on Monday, December 2, 2024, due to inhalation of harmful gases in Kuwait, the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) said.
In a statement, Migrant Workers Office (MWO)-Kuwait Labor Attaché Manuel Dimaano said the fatal fire that broke out in Al Adan, Kuwait has tragically led to the death of the two OFWs.
“The workers’ cause of death was attributed to the inhalation of non-breathable, toxic gases from the fire,” said Dimaano.
He said the MWO-Kuwait is currently handling the legal procedures and concerns related to the incident.
Dimaano said they are also facilitating the processing of documents for the repatriation of the OFW remains to the Philippines.
Meanwhile, the DMW said the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (Owwa) in Western Visayas has already visited the families of the OFWs in Capiz.
The Owwa and the DMW also extended financial assistance to support the affected families.
“We extend our heartfelt condolences to the grieving families and assure them of full support,” said the DMW. (HDT/SunStar Philippines)
